Romeo and Juliet Costumes for That Romantic Halloween
If Shakespeare is your thing, you may want to dress up as one of his most famous characters, and if you need an outfit for you and your partner, Romeo, Juliet costumes could be your ticket to win this year’s best costume prize.
Juliet costumes needs to portray a very feminine, elegant yet young and simple look. A long dress, probably in velvet with a square neck, lace trim and long flowing bell sleeves trimmed with lace create the basic look. Some gold trim could be added on the sleeves and neck to accent the beauty of the dress, but only in small amounts in order to stay in keeping with Juliet’s simple, innocent appeal. A long silky wig and flat ballet style slippers would complete the costume nicely, and carrying a single rose is a sure way to show everyone how much your Romeo adores you!
The young and handsome Romeo dresses most often in knickers with long socks and a tunic style top, often sewn in the same rich fabrics as Juliet’s dresses. Velvet was a very common fabric of the time period. Romeo’s look is most famous for the fancy hat with a feather that he wore. High black boots finish off his Romeo costumes. A second more formal look for Romeo is the traditional medieval short cape that was worn over a tunic and tights or knickers, again sewn in velvet or some other similarly rich fabric.
Romeo and Juliet costumes are available at most online costume stores. If you have a local thrift or second hand store nearby, you may be able to find used clothing that can easily be adapted to create the perfect do it yourself Romeo and Juliet costumes.

Great costumes. Very original. I think we’ve all gotten past being forced to read Shakespeare back in junior high school and now recognize what terrific characters were in his plays. Romeo and Juliet will remain the symbol of unrequited love, forever. Thanks for the great costumes

great site me and my wife dressed up last year in Romeo and Juliet costumes and we were a hit. It is always hard to find a costume theme that works for my wife and me both and this is a great idea for everyone thanks!

These outfits are one of the most classic couple’s suits in my opinion. I have yet to see people wear this when they go trick or treating though..

Great costume ideas I think that Romeo and Juliet Costumes are amazing. Me and my wife are dressing up this year as Romeo and Juliet they are great couples costumes. It is so hard we fight every year on what we are going to go to the party’s but not this year thanks!
